String Quilting Workshop- July 21-Aug 18
VirtualThis 5 week workshop will teach the basics of foundation string piecing, one of the most humble quilting techniques.
Classes meet from 9:30-11:00 EST on Zoom.

Play with orientation of the strings and shapes of foundation papers to see what amazing patterns are possible.

Do you have a scrap bin full of little strips, snippits, and strings? Let’s spend some time taming those scraps into string blocks, and then choose one pattern to turn into a quilt! We will explore and attempt 10+ block patterns. Plug the iron in now!
Small Projects from Japan- Tuesdays on Zoom
VirtualMy love for Japan and Japanese quiltmaking goes back to freshman year of high school when an exchange student from Nara taught me how to make a small patchwork zippered pouch. I was hooked! In this class, I will share personal stories of my time studying and working in Japan at the turn of the century and teach "Japanese Rules Quilting" as I was taught by my first mentor. We will also explore my vast collection of Japanese quilt books and magazines and try out a few small items, sewn entirely by hand.
