Description
Do you need to get some sewing done? Have you’ve been making blocks or collecting fabric for a while now, but you need a kick in the pants (or a weekly zoom meeting) to keep you on track and get that pile turned into a quilt?
This class is your first step. Over the 5 weeks, you will learn:
- Quilt math to calculate sashing and borders, including adjusting for blocks of different sizes.
- Quilt design to aid in block layout, sashing and corner stone color, number of borders, pieced borders.
- Improvisational methods to make what you have fit into what you want your top to be.
We will also spend time practicing:
- Sewing a straight 1//4″ seam
- Pinning to align corners and preserve points
- Pressing seam allowances to make joining easier later on
- Keeping tools in good condition
- Changing needles, pins, and rotary blades
-
Sewing area maintenance
This is not a “how to make a quilt from the beginning” class.
This is a “how am I gonna get this quilt made?!?” class. Don’t worry, we’ll break it down and stitch it up. Register below.
*** UFTWF members who plan on taking NF 321 (Wed class- Hand Quilting with Jessica) are encouraged to enroll to get ready for the September course.***
